Abnegation Discography

Well the site hit 2000 views today (big woop, I know) so I thought I would do a post on one of the most underrated bands of the 90s. Abnegation was formed in 1992 in Erie, PA. They were an early adopter of the metal influenced hardcore sound that was ever so prevalent in the 90s. Abnegation were known not only known for their hard sound, but also their hard and strong beliefs, on subjects such as Abortion and Veganism. Take of example the lyrics to their song Birthright:

"You've taken for granted the gift of life. You have abused the miracle of birth as the child is sucked from inside. Conception, the beginning of life. Your reasoning is irrelevant to the situation. Your choice ends when life begins. Their cries will not go unheard. The fetus is a life..."

Wether you agree with their ethics and morals or not, they were one hell of a band musically. So today id like to offer you a download of Abnegation's discography along with some very rare original show photos.

The photos above were taken by Greg Straight Edge on October 22nd, 1995 in Rochester, NY.

  1. My band (sevin) shared a van with Abnegation in the fall of 94. It was a mini tour of the midwest with stops in Pittsburgh PA, Dayton OH, Indianapolis IN, Chicago IL and Milwaukee WI. It was a great experience and those guys made things interesting.

  3. I spoke to Iggy after their set in Syracuse Ny, I was friends with a female who totally sweated him whenever she'd attend a show.-Always looking out to see if she could spot him at a show in Sewercuse, NY
they played a short set and did not have a merch table set up & i did not catch the bands name but loved what I heard & saw. this was around the time of the Catalyst records seven inch release. I loved Carcass & STILL DO.-Iggy's vocal style intrigued myself because it reminded myself of Jeff Walker's vocals.I gave Jason my name & address in hopes of communicating via snail mail about possibly acquiring some recorded material but had not heard anything.-so,as I gradually attended shows I learned the bands name & purchased ALL of the Physical Material by them I possibly could.I wish I could have gotten a re recording of the Extinguish the sickness seven inch done in the screechy vocal style of the later Iggy Abnegation vocals.-I have a seven inch with a re recording of one of the extinguish the sickness songs done in the later vocal style. It makes me excited to reminisce of these days.Thank-You so much People of In Your Blood fanzine.
